The dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other reference documents listed here are either specific to northern, Arctic or Indigenous studies or contain significant content related to these fields. The documents provide access to review papers by specialists. Dictionaries of northern Indigenous languages are also listed here.

Some of the resources are freely available in full-text format, while others are restricted to members of the universities mentioned (restricted access), and are available under institutional licenses only. Reference works only available in print format are also listed.

Flora of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago

Porsild’s Illustrated Flora of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago (1957, 1964) has been the authority for vascular plants of Canada’s Arctic islands for more than 40 years, during which time there has been considerable research on Arctic vascular plants. The present document summarizes the post-1957 literature, the information resulting from the Panarctic Flora project (Nordal and Razzhivin 1999, Elven et al. 2003), and the current nomenclature for Arctic flora included in Flora of North America.
